Dupuytren Contracture — Limited Fasciectomy, Needle Fasciotomy and Collagenase Injection: Correction, Recurrence and Hand Therapy Afterward
Two papers, one question. A pooled analysis of individual patient data and a multicenter randomized trial report how the three common procedures compare for correction, complications, recurrence and progression — and what each finding means for the clinician who sees the hand afterward.

Physical therapists, physical therapist assistants working under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist, and certified hand therapists who manage patients after treatment for Dupuytren contracture.
Licensed physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists and certified hand therapists in outpatient orthopedic, hand and upper extremity settings. Physical therapist assistants may take this course; the plan of care, evaluation and progression decisions described remain the physical therapist’s responsibility, with the assistant carrying out the plan under the therapist’s direction and supervision.

After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Describe what the individual patient data meta-analysis reported about contracture correction, complications and time to recurrence after limited fasciectomy, needle fasciotomy and collagenase injection.
- State what the DETECT randomized controlled trial reported about contracture progression and retreatment in treated fingers, adjacent untreated fingers and all untreated fingers over two years.
- Distinguish where the two papers agree and where they diverge on correction and durability, and explain what each paper's findings mean for the clinician seeing the patient after the procedure.
